Jennifer Trehane

Jennifer's life is steeped in horticulture, as both her parents were horticulturists. After her own graduation she helped her father plant the first commercial blueberry plantation in England and to establish a nursery for propagating first blueberry plants then camellias.

Over the years she has developed a deep practical knowledge of both, as a result of daily involvement with the plants, and with the customers who buy them and often have plenty of questions that need answering.

Since retiring from the family business, she has travelled widely in all the countries where camellias are grown, including China and Japan, gathering information for her books, and as an active officer of the International Camellia Society.

Her books include Camellias, the Gardener's Encyclopedia, and Blueberries, Cranberries and Other Vaccinium and she has contributed many newspaper and magazine articles.

Jennifer particularly enjoys giving talks around the UK and overseas. Her power-point illustrated presentations are peppered with many anecdotes and stories from her travels as well as authoritative information delivered in a relaxed, informal way.
